Rated PG-13; 2 hr 40 min

Co-Hosts: Ryan VanDenBoom and Morgan Marcell
"Hamilton" is the story of America then, told by America now. Featuring a score that blends hip-hop, jazz, R&B, and show tunes, "Hamilton" has taken the story of American founding father Alexander Hamilton and created a revolutionary moment in theater--a musical that has had a profound impact on culture, politics, and education. Captured at the Richard Rodgers Theater on Broadway in June 2016, the film transports its audience into the world of the Broadway show in a uniquely intimate way.

Why this film? "Lin-Manuel Miranda’s masterwork has changed the way society views history and in many ways has broken the mould of contemporary musical theatre while also adhering to the norms of the great composers and conceivers of the past. In this conversation we will discuss the importance of the work, where it fits in the history of the canon, and the various elements that have made it transcend theatre and become and international, mainstream phenomenon." - Dr. Matt Travis
